The EMP Memorial Lecture was established on September 22, 2007 and is managed by the Linguistic Society of the Philippines (LSP), Inc., the Ateneo de Manila University Department of English, and the Ateneo Language Learning Center (ALLC). It was made to honor the life and works of Dr. Emy M. Pascasio (1931~2006), a Professor of Language & Linguistics for more than four decades at the Ateneo de Manila University and was at the helm of founding the Ateneo Language Learning Center. She served as President of the Linguistic Society of the Philippines twice (in 1994-1995 & in 1998-2000). She made impactful contributions to Philippine sociolinguistics & language education, through her works on bilingualism, code-switching, language testing, & materials development. The EMP Memorial Lecture is held biennially in the month of Septemberโ the birth month of Dr. Emy M. Pascasioโ teacher, researcher, & language professional par excellence.
