It's that time of the year again! The Linguistic Society of the Philippines (LSP) is holding its annual conference and general meeting at Silliman University (SU), Dumaguete from April 7-9, 2016.
This year, the theme of the conference will be "Asianization of English and English Language Teaching". As such, the conference committee welcome presentations that are related but not limited to the following areas:
• English Language Teaching: Asian Content and Context
• Asian Englishes
• Philippine English(es)
• Pedagogical Aspect of World or Asian Englishes
• Language Policies for and in the Philippines
• Localization of ELT Pedagogies and Practices
Dr. Alejandro Bernardo of University of Santo Tomas (UST), the conference director for LSP-NCGM 2016, is working closely with the faculty and staff of SU for the conference.
In an interview, a registered conference attendee expressed her excitement over the upcoming event. "I'm hopeful that linguists, educators and those interested in English Language Teaching (ELT) and Englishes will learn a lot in the conference."
It should be noted that in 2014, the LSP-NCGM went to the North, when Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) hosted it, headed by Dr Marlina Lino of the English Department.
Well, it looks like excitement is boiling over for conference attendees. For more details about the conference, visit the conference site. To register, click here.
