(MANILA-PHILIPPINES) 2016 membership figures of the Linguistic Society of the Philippines (LSP) reached a whopping 298 at the end of the 1st quarter of the LSP fiscal year compared to last year's 320 for Q4.
The breakdown is as follows: regular members, 51; student members, 59; institutional members from 5 institutions, 25; lifetime members, additional 15 to the existing 128, and installment scheme-based lifetime members, 16.
The incremental increase can be seen as a result of the refinements done in the application process, particularly the shift from paper-based to online-based registration.
"I am so impressed with the quick application process as well as the new LSP certificate with LUMIC (LSP Unified Membership Identification Code)," praised a member. "It makes me proud to be an LSP member," she continued.
Anyone who has a passion for linguistics may apply for membership anytime by clicking this link: http://www.lsphil.net/#!become-a-member/c1y13.
With the exception of Lifetime Memberships, all confirmed 2016 memberships will be valid from April 1, 2016 to March 31, 2017 regardless of date of application within the fiscal year.
