The Lannang Archives (TLA)-Linguistic Society of the Philippines (LSP)

SCRIBE Award

This award is jointly funded by The Lannang Archives and the Linguistic Society of the Philippines. The award aims to encourage scholars to work on the following fields: linguistic anthropology, language contact, sociolinguistics, corpus linguistics, and language documentation involving Chinese Filipino/ Filipino-Chinese languages, varieties, and phenomena. The awarding will be done during the Closing Ceremonies of the Linguistic Society of the Philippines’ annual International Conference (LSPIC). 

 

Eligibility

  • The proponent must be involved, if not interested, in the advocacy of The Lannang Archives

  • The proponent should be a registered presenter at the annual LSP conference

  • The proponent must at least be a team member OR a member of LSP before submission of the paper. 

 

Criteria for Judging

  • Relevance to Sino-Philippine linguistics and Lannang community (50%)

  • Originality and innovation (30%)

  • Organization (10%)

  • Writing Style (10%)

 

Process

  1. Proponents submit full paper (.docx and PDF version) on a set date here: https://tinyurl.com/TCALSPSA. Submitted papers should strictly conform to the template prescribed by the Philippine Journal of Linguistics (PJL Manuscript Template: https://www.lsphil.net/for-authors).

  2. TLA informs authors of shortlisted entries before LSPIC;

  3. (Part of) the selection committee will sit in the paper presentation of the shortlisted entries at the LSPIC conference. 

  4. TLA and LSP award the winner.

 

Selection Committee:

The committee for the Award consists of the following:

1. TLA Initiative Founder

2. TLA Representative

3. LSP President or Representative

4. The PJL Editor-in-Chief or Representative

 

Terms of the award

The winner of the award will receive the following:

1. Five thousand pesos in cash (jointly funded by TLA and LSP)

2. Certificate of Recognition

3. Recognition in both TLA and LSP website and social networking sites

4. Publication in the PJL (subject to review)
